About The Event

On this Earth Day, join us in raising awareness of the need to deepen our knowledge about the risks of climate change and increase appreciation of “our only home,” as His Holiness the Dalai Lama has often said. Peter Van Ham, the curator of the present Tibet House exhibition, “ALCHI – Visions of Enlightenment”, will lead a discussion about the challenges of high-altitude documentation and photography, focusing on his numerous trips to remote temple complexes in the Himalayas. Underscored by the historical record that these temples provide, Peter will illuminate the importance of documenting these sites and of increasing awareness of the urgency of preserving our universally shared world cultural heritage. Demonstrating how advanced digital technology helped to illuminate details of the temple complex hidden from the naked eye, Van Ham and representatives from Phase One will provide an opportunity to experiment with the high-end camera equipment he used.
